I live in Chambersburg with my wife, Nancy. I've been turning for a little over 19 years and really enjoy woodturning. I've taken classes with some professional turners and have attended a number of woodturning symposiums, which provide a wealth of information.
I founded the Cumberland Valley Woodturners club with the intent of having others like myself get together to share our interest and knowledge about woodturning and to learn from each other. It is fun to share ideas with fellow turners. I feel I am a fairly advanced turner but I am always looking to improve my skills. My shop is in my basement and I have several lathes, grinders and more tools than Crafts Supplies (!) so I can have a hands-on demo, give classes or just have fellow turners come and "play" and learn from each other. I have a complete line of Glazier tools, 5 lathes: two Vicmarc VB36, a Poolwood, a Nova and a Jet.
I like to turn all sorts of items, big and small, thin and fat, I mostly like to turn from all kinds of wood. Wood is very interesting, you can make 6 bowls from 6 variety of wood specie and they will all look different, turn differently and hold a finish differently.
Woodturning is only one of my hobbies, I also enjoy photography and fly fishing.
